Milan, May 28th, 2014 – Giorgio Armani and Century Properties, developer of premium residential, office and commercial properties in the Philippines, have announced a partnership whose objective is the creation of the interiors of the luxury amenities and common areas of Century Spire, the extraordinary building designed by the renowned architecture firm Studio Daniel Libeskind. In 2018, the tower, at 245 metres tall with 60 floors, is expected to become a part of the skyline of Makati City, an elegant residential and business district, and the chief financial center of the Philippines.

The Armani/Casa Interior Design Studio has provided complete interior design services to private individuals and property developers since 2003 under the artistic direction of Giorgio Armani. For Century Spire, it is responsible for the design of common spaces and amenities, which include the grand lobby, library, swimming pool with juice bar and relaxation area, as well as the spa, gym, and fitness areas. In addition, on request, residential apartments can be delivered with full

Armani/Casa interior design, finish and furniture as a special commission.

The unique architecture of the tower created by Studio Daniel Libeskind was a key inspiration for the project’s interior design. The building’s structural boldness, with its signature feature – a peak that seems to open up into a blossom – and the dynamism of the oblique lines that characterise the facade have been important points of reference in the development of the concept for its interior. Of course, this also reflects Giorgio Armani’s aesthetic philosophy, and therefore aims to create a deep sense of comfort and deliver excellent functionality. Shapes, textures and colours will produce a mood of profound harmony.

Century Spire is comprised of more than 500 residential units that are divided into eight different types, from suites to penthouses. The largest and most prestigious apartments are located on the tower’s top floors. Armani/Casa has created fully-interior designed apartments at the Century Spire showroom. Each type of apartment has a different colour identity, designed to enhance its characteristics – the simple and rigorous shapes develop around a palette that ranges from silver-grey and blue to tones of warm amber, jade green and pale gold. Common traits are found throughout as a result of the use of exquisite materials: onyx, white-gold leaf and rosewood alternating with wood in unusual tones and wallpapers made of natural fibres. Equally refined are the details, with painted faux finishes and metal features that divide the walls adding a sense of movement in the spaces.

Golden beiges, warm greys and muted greens are used in the common areas and amenities. The configuration and decoration of the walls emphasise the bold geometry of the space, which sits in complete harmony with the building’s exterior. The main lobby features a pattern of oblique pilasters that enclose a system of indirect lighting. A similar pattern is used in the library, whose split wall contains collections of books. The pool’s juice bar incorporates large screens that render the space modular.

Commenting on the project, Giorgio Armani, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Armani Group, said: ‘I am very happy with this collaboration, and I think that the combination of my vision with that of Daniel Libeskind will lead to the creation of a truly special place, characterised by elegance and a unique charm.’

THE GALLERY AND SHOWFLATS

As of the end of May 2014, you can visit a gallery created to introduce customers to the Armani/Casa world through photos and videos on the fourth floor of the Pacific Star Building in Makati City, which houses the main offices of Century Properties (not far from where the new development will be built). The Century Spire project is illustrated by means of a large model, showing the configuration of the common areas, layouts of the residential units, and materials that will be used for the interiors. The rooms of the gallery lead to three show apartments, representing the small and medium-size units available: studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom. Each show-flat is equipped with Armani/Casa furniture and accessories, an Armani/Dada kitchen and an Armani/Roca bathroom.

Armani/Casa and the Interior Design Studio

More than ten years after its foundation, Armani/Casa is a world leader in the luxury furnishings sector. A byword for elegance and style, it stems from Giorgio Armani’s living dream of a warm, harmonious, highly comfortable and sophisticated haven. Since 2003, the Armani/Casa Interior Design Studio has provided complete interior design services to private individuals and property developers, from the conceptual phase through to the management of construction. The studio’s work involves developing creative solutions – under the artistic direction of Giorgio Armani – that are the product of painstaking architectural research and extensive study into the project’s cultural, geographical and architectural context. In this way, the individual designs are developed to be perfectly integrated into their settings in terms of their features and aesthetic values. The Armani/Casa Interior Design Studio’s research impacts on the selection of all materials, colours and finishes involved in the fit-out, as well as on the design of the built-in or custom-made furnishings; all of this is to ensure each design is unique and in keeping with the client’s requirements.

Among the Armani/Casa Interior Design Studio’s most recent projects: Maçka Residences in Istanbul, Turkey and The World Towers in Mumbai, India.
