Help the Fight Against COVID-19 From Home

Trying times like today call for people to help one another. We can still do our part to help fight COVID-19 without leaving the comfort of home during the enhanced community quarantine. Here are some ways to do so:

Donate via G-Cash

Gcash

GCash, one of the leading mobile wallets in the Philippines, launched a digital donation drive that aims to assist not just hospitals but the frontline health workers who combat the dreaded novel coronavirus. Done via the GCash app, the donation drive gives app users an avenue to extend support, with the proceeds to be equally divided among the seven non-government organization partners: the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation, the Philippine Red Cross, World Vision, UP Medical Foundation, PGH Foundation, Inc., ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, and Ayala Foundation.

Extend assistance through PayMaya

paymaya

Digital Payments firm PayMaya Philippines, Inc. also launched a one-stop digital donation facility, enabling people to donate to various charitable organizations that aim to help affected communities and frontliners who are dealing with the pandemic. Visit the PayMaya website (http://donate.paymaya.com) or go to the Pay Bills section of the PayMaya app (initially available on Android and will soon be downloadable on iOS) and support causes that range from providing medical frontliners with meals and personal protective equipment to giving relief and medical packages to communities, among many others.

Support the face mask drive of UP Manila’s Tulong Kabataan

tulong kabataan

UP Manila’s Tulong Kabataan is launching a face mask drive for the patients, health workers, and interns of Philippine General Hospital to help augment their need for masks and other medical supplies. Financial and logistical support will also be of big help. Check out their donation tracker to see what supplies need to be donated.

Help gather supplies for PGH frontliners

Supplies for patients, healthcare workers and medical professionals at The Philippine General Hospital (PGH) have been rapidly dwindling. A fundraising campaign has been launched in coordination with PGH’s Office of the Vice President. You can do your part by sending cash donation which will help the team acquire one N95 mask, one gown, two sets of gloves, two pieces of head covers, two sets of shoe covers and one pair of goggles good for one (1) health worker only. Each Food and Care Pack Ticket will help one health worker or frontliner per day.

Help frontliners get nutritious meals through Rock Ed Philippines

rocked

Rock Ed Philippines, a volunteer group that works to provide venues and events for alternative education via music, arts, and sports, to name a few, launched the #RockEdRelief to provide E.R. frontliners with nutritious and freshly cooked meals. You can help by sending cash donations or providing fresh ingredients. Message them on Facebook to find out how you can help.

Support Salamat PH Healthcare Heroes

salamat ph

Salamat PH Healthcare Heroes is a volunteer group in the Philippines that supports the medical frontliners in the fight against COVID-19. Through donations, the group is able to provide nourishing meals to hundreds of healthcare workers and AFP troops in Metro Manila. Some of their partners include Myron’s, Gourmet Gypsy, and Barrio Fiesta’s Chicken BBQ. They need cash donations; N95 and surgical masks, goggles, gloves, face shields, and cleaning and/or disinfecting supplies.

Donate to Rice Top Fil-Asian Comfort Food

ricetop 1

Rice Top Fil-Asian Comfort Food is asking for donations to sponsor one (1) meal for medical workers. They will be working with hospital partners such as Ospital ng Makati, The Medical City, Lung Center of the Philippines, Cainta Municipal Hospital, and Marikina Valley Medical Center. They only need ₱200 cash donation from kindhearted individuals.

Another way to help this fight against a global medical crisis is by sharing only verified and legitimate news from reputable news sources. We don’t want to contribute fear and anxiety to the online community, and so while we can help disseminate information, let us do so responsibly. Lastly, let us use our words to comfort each other and to spread kindness.
