Christmas Century City Mall marks its first

If everywhere you go these days ignites the feeling of Christmas, then you can be sure to double that when you go to Century City Mall in Makati City.

Why so? Because the sleek, upscale, and compact yet complete lifestyle establishment at the corner of Salamanca St. and Kalayaan Ave. in Century City is celebrating its very first Christmas this year. And like parents to a child celebrating his first Yuletide Season, management has pulled all the stops in making the lead up to December 25 memorable for its growing number of patrons.

“Since our official opening in March, we’ve been very pleased with the traffic that has been coming through Century City Mall at this early stage,” Graham Coates, chief operating officer of the commercial property told The Manila Times on November 20. “I’m very certain that number will grow bigger once Centuria Medical Makati [Century Property’s outpatient techno-medical center whose targeted completion is December] is up and running. But in the meantime, we want to show our appreciation to our patrons on our first Christmas with a very special campaign.”

Dubbed “Love Christmas,” Coates and his team have come up with a series of activities all season long, inspired by the techie-age hashtag “Reasons to #LoveChristmas at #CenturyCityMall.”

Providing a sneak peak into the festivities, which officially begin on Saturday, Coates hosted dinner at the newly opened Hole in the Wall food hall on the fourth level, a swanky space, which any objective diner will likely classify as a cut above the usual concept of food courts in malls.

Besides the modern interiors, Hole in the Wall’s concessionaires serve menus that range from Wagyu Pastrami, which is best had with your pick of a wide selection of imported beers at Mister Delicious; Soft-shell Po’boy, a mini-crustacean with greens, sandwiched between extra soft cuapao at Kwong’s; make-your-own cookie at Scout’s Honor (they bake it after you’ve chosen what goes into the sweet or savory treat); or the light and fluffy Japanese cheescake at Green Cheese. The list—and unique flavors—goes on.

Hole in the Wall is in fact, a first of its kind food hall concept in the Philippines, what with the husband-and-wife team of Charles and Suzy Paw running the dining destination, rather than the actual mall management.

“Charles and Suzy are first and foremost entrepreneurs [owners of the accessories chain Beyond the Box], but they are foodies by heart. And they’ve done an excellent job of putting together diverse food choices in this beautiful space, thus their tagline ‘A good food gathering’,” shared Coates.

And what is Christmas without good food?

Meanwhile, here is the rest of Century City Mall’s “Reasons to #LoveChristmas” list all through December.

Treat for shopaholics. The mall’s spirit of giving is at its best with the “Shopaholic Holiday” promo, where 2,000 shoppers will get the chance to receive P2,000 worth of Century City Mall vouchers for every P10,000 worth of accumulated purchase on the weekends of November 29 and 30 and December 6 and 7. As Coates put it to The Manila Times, “What are the chances of getting that car through Christmas raffles? With this promo, everyone can be a winner.”

Tradition. Santa will roam the five-level mall every Sunday of November and December to give away gifts from Century City Mall’s generous tenants. Joining him is a special helper, a “reindeer dog”, which will be accepting donations in behalf of the Philippine Animal Welfare Society.

Brrrr. The festive spirit comes to view on the fourth level al fresco area where a giant Snow Globe awaits. Here, kids and adults alike can experience snow and have their photo taken inside its picturesque Winter Wonderland backdrop. Also on the same level is the mall’s #LoveChristmas tree, which makes for a beautiful backdrop for the daily fountain show at 12 noon, 6 p.m., and 8 p.m.

Songs and praise. Christmas caroling from non-profit organizations Handog ng Pagmamahal and Sheavers Associations are scheduled at the basement every Sunday. Mass is also held at the Events Center on the fifth floor.

Kiss, tell and win a prize. Kiss under mistletoes all around the mall and post it on Instagram with the hashtags #KissandTell and #LoveChristmas and tag Century City Mall (@centurymallph) to enter the contest. Five winners will be chosen every week for six weeks. Each will receive 10 free cinema tickets at the mall’s state of the art movie complex.
