Century Properties eyes bidding for infrastructure projects

MANILA – Property developer Century Properties Group is considering bidding for government’s infrastructure projects, its chairman, Jose Antonio, said Tuesday.

Antonio told ANC’s “The Boss” that the company has been approached by potential partners to bid for private public partnership (PPP) projects. The government’s plan to remove premium payments for projects is a positive development, he added.

New airports, roads, and bridges will help boost tourism in the Philippines at a time when demand for travel in Southeast Asia is high, he said.

“We hope to enter a ‘golden era’ of infrastructure because that’s what the country needs. If we have the infrastructure, we can accomplish a lot,” Antonio said.

The company, best known for luxury developments like Trump Tower Manila, plans to address demand for homes in the P1 million to P2 million price range, he said, debunking observations of a property market glut.

“Every year, there is a cumulative deficit of supply,” said Antonio.

For the next five years, Antonio said Century Properties would source its revenue from four main units: office space, residential, low-cost housing, and tourism and leisure development.
